Like my Colorado Flag I didn't want to paint the flag like the original image

It includes South Florida

I liked the emphasis on the "Rocky Mountains" cutting diagonally through the piece

I knew when I did the acid over the aluminum leaf it would eat away some of the metal so I painted it the background black and it comes through in spots reminiscent of an antique mirror

I traced out the design in pencil over the map then painted all the colors at the same time using a wet on wet technique allowing the colors to mix and blend
