Vintage Essex-Class Aircraft Carrier Identification Model by South Salem Studios tiger oak Not in original boxc. 1940s 1950s; South Salem Studios South Salem, NY This piece is a handmade military teaching tool and depicts one of the (now) retired class of aircraft carrier ships once used by the US Navy. The models were made by South Salem Studios for the military to help teach enlisted naval officers the various ships. Different sizes were used to help servicemen spot them from various distances. The ship, while not incredibly detailed, does show the majority
