Block printed and painted by hand it uses motifs and imagery influenced by 17th and 18th century Indian Palalmpore and Chintzes

The panel has a traditional all over diagonal design which runs the length of the piece

Handmade from an black velvet which has been embroidered with traditional gold metal thread work which incorporates coils of silver and gold metal thread twisted and wrapped around a linen thread which is then applied to created decorative floral and other motifs

An incredibly rare find, this extraordinary chinoiserie glazed chintz with a plethora of exotic animals, dragons, crocodiles, snakes etc. Probably once part of some bedhangings it has been fully lined in another glazed chintz and has a frill running down one side. Stillwith its glazed finish this is an unusual and rare survivor from another age. The panel is a good size and & theres enough here to frame and mount or to use for design
