This Arita yaki dish features a design by TAIRA Hideharu, a wood carver from Akanko Ainu Kotan. Casting is a technique in which ceramic clay dissolved in water is poured into a plaster mold and molded. After the design of the plate was carved out of wood, Yamaheigama, an Arita yaki potter, copied the mold and fired it. The beauty of the wood carving and the shading of the glaze make
