The vineyards sit among ancient, long dormant volcanoes, and the volcanic soils here are said to give these wines a pretty distinctive edge. Odette and Gilles Miolanne planted their first vines in 1994 mostly Pinot Noir with a little Gamay and farm about 17 hectares at the southern end of the appellation.
